Why Water is So Important

Proper hydration is important because every cell, tissue, and organ in the human body consists of a high percentage of water and requires water to function correctly. Your body is about two thirds water, if you dip below that level you become dehydrated and may not even feel thirsty. Once you are well hydrated it is common for your body to crave water over other beverages. Choose the highest quality water you can afford. There are very good water filters available that can improve the quality of the water you drink but even adequate amounts of tap water are preferable over being chronically dehydrated.

First we discuss your health and pain issues along with the best treatment for you. You may or may not need to undress depending on the type of massage administered. Your body will always be covered; only the area of the body being massaged is exposed. The massage takes place in a quiet, warm room with soft music to help you relax.

Also, certain medications can change your perception of pain and pressure, so your massage therapist should know what prescription drugs you are taking.

Is there anything I should do before or after a massage?

Drink plenty of water to avoid soreness after your massage. Drinking extra water the day before the massage hydrates the muscles, making it easier for the massage therapist to manipulate them. Drinking sufficient water after the massage helps the body flush out any toxins released from the muscles during massage.
